About Ba La Chuoi

Ba La Chuoi is one of those places you casually discover and then immediately want to tell people about, especially if Vietnamese food is your comfort zone or your current craving. Tucked away at 11 Rue Serane, 34000 Montpellier, France, this Vietnamese restaurant feels approachable from the moment you hear its name, and that easygoing vibe carries straight through the door. I like introducing Ba La Chuoi as a spot that balances authenticity with everyday simplicity, because it doesn’t try too hard to impress-it just lets the food and atmosphere do the talking. Whether you’re stopping by for a relaxed dine-in meal or opting for delivery or takeaway on a busy day, the experience feels smooth and unpretentious. The menu leans into fresh, vibrant flavors, offering plenty of healthy options alongside small plates that are perfect for sharing or sampling something new. It’s also welcoming to different lifestyles, with vegan and vegetarian options that don’t feel like afterthoughts, which is always a plus when dining with a mixed group. Drinks are part of the experience too, with choices like beer, wine, cocktails, and coffee rounding things out nicely, whether you’re here for a full meal or just easing into the evening. What really stands out to me about Ba La Chuoi is how it fits into Montpellier’s food scene without losing its own identity-it feels local, friendly, and consistent. The service options, including no-contact delivery, make it easy to enjoy the food however you prefer, which adds to its everyday appeal. If you’re someone who enjoys Vietnamese cuisine that’s flavorful yet accessible, Ba La Chuoi naturally becomes a place you remember, recommend, and revisit, especially when you’re in the mood for something comforting, fresh, and quietly satisfying.

Amazing authentic Vietnamese food (legit and approved as a Vietnamese). Especially the Banh Da Cua (local Hai Phong dish, eaten as breakfast there) was amazing and rare to find in Europe. Prices are affordable, and you receive a large quantity. Warm, attentive, and quick service. Would absolutely recommend for an authentic Vietnamese meal. Thanks again!

Very yummy food with reasonable price. Highly recommended to go as early as possible since it is quite popular and can get crowded very quickly.

Lovely cosy little restaurant in the backstreets of Montpellier near la Gare, great for lunch. Delicious food, we had nems to share for starters - they were delicious - and I had the speciality soup - Banh da cua haï phong- which was also delicious. Generous portions, friendly service and not expensive.

This was my first time eating Vietnamese in Montpellier. Some restaurants close on Sundays, but this one is open until 2:00 pm. I tried the pho soup some years ago and it was fabulous, so I decided to try another plate: the bun. When it goes to Vietnamese cuisine, you will find the best on your plate. These guys prepared this bun very well. Fresh ingredients, very healthy food. I will come back to try other plates. If you're in Montpelier, you need to try this place. Congratulations. Keep it up, guys!

A delicious restaurant with traditional Vietnamese food. All dishes were tasteful and authentic. Special mention must be made of the nem, they are simply wonderful. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's a small restaurant, so it's recommended to make a reservation.

Cozy, family-run, authentic restaurant. As a Vietnamese, I highly recommend the fried rice (took us by surprise!) pho and spring rolls were delicious. My only feedback is that the dough on the banh cups was too thick. Everything else was superb. Lovely waitress lady was very efficient, friendly, and spoke fluent English.
